Art classes have begun at Golden Elders and the creativity is flowing. We are currently working with tempera and water colors. Coming soon: Create your own greeting cards via stamping. Can’t wait!!!!!

Golden Elders Celebrated Marti Gras in a big way . . .

Fat Tuesday’s offerings included pork roast, gnocchis and cabbage casserole (thanks to Irma Stingel and her daughter Lori) and poczkis – a Polish treat like a Bismark donut (thanks to Jeanne Funk and her daughter Gayle), decorations, and lively games of chance with white elephant grab bag gifts for prizes. Great way to start Lent!

Valentines and Goody Bags for our Troops . . .

The Golden Elder Guys and Gals sprang into action once again to send our troops their messages of love and support by making them homemade Valentine’s Day greeting cards and filling individual goody bags for our service personnel overseas. This is the second time Golden Elders has sent goody bags – the first time was the 2011 July 4th holiday.

Birthday’s are always special at the Schopler home and the same is true for birthday’s at Golden Elders! Happy Birthday to Mary and Katherine! Mary turned 93 years young on January 5, 2012 and Katherine turned 84 years young on February 10, 2012. Wishing you both many more happy years!

Everyone loves a party, especially when it involves games, prizes, good food and friends! Our afternoon of games and prizes was topped off by singing our favorite Christmas carols accompanied by egg nog, hot cider and delicious treats made by the Golden Elder’s Girls and Guys. When young and old unite ….

When young and old unite around the holidays great things happen! A truly enjoyable time was had by guest and caregivers during our second annual trip to the River Woods Elementery School Christmas Concert “Flakes”! The kids did a wonderful job. After the concert young and old united again when Reindeer cookies, made and served by 12 year old Courtney Thomas, were the highlight of the afternoon.

Sometimes fun things to do are right under your nose. Taking a nice coffee and dessert break at Clow Airport’s Charlie’s Restaurant is right up our alley. Everyone enjoyed watching the planes and helicopters take off. They especially enjoyed watching the students learn the ropes as they went through their pre-flight check list.

We invited all our guest and caregivers for an afternoon of fun, games and live entertainment by the delightful Sandi Sylver. Sandi entertained everyone with her stories, songs, and puppets! The afternoon was topped off with a campfire and S’mores by the campfire.

1st meeting of the Charity Chicks

Our 1st Annual USA Week, our project was: 100 “goodie bags” for the troops.
If you’d like to send something to the troops, drop-off is 2 Saturdays a month in Lisle.
