We topped off the evening by drawing for numbers to choose gifts.

The day after the Caregiver’s Tiki Party, we had a Tiki Party for our guests at Golden Elders Adult Day Care (pictured below).

Linden Oaks Hospital presented Dr. Linda Levine Madori, creator of the TTAP Method. This emerging multimodal intervention; Therapeutic Thematic Art Programming for Older Adults (TTAP Method), is an approach that provides stimulation to three distinct brain systems, and pilot studies have strongly indicated that the TTAP Method may be an effective intervention for slowing the progression of mild cognitive impairment to Alzheimer’s disease.

Nancy and I enjoyed Dr. Madori’s lecture very much!

The Spring Bazaar and Open House was great!

So far, we have donated $200 to the Be The Match Foundation.

a special thanks to Donna Zielazinski, Campus Program Coordinator for Villas of St. Benedict in Lisle, IL Donna was kind enough to donate necklaces to sell…everyone loved them – very unique. Thanks again!

Last but not least, thanks Nancy and the “Golden Girls” for all your hard work!

With the help of the patrons of Meadow Glens Elementary School in Naperville, we were lucky to sell $130 worth of our crafts at their holiday Store/Parent Boutique.

We were also preparing for our 1^st Annual Christmas Open House on December 16, 2009!

The holiday spirit was in the air!

Unfortunately our celebrating became more difficult, since we lost Bob T. over the holidays.

Sadly, Bob died of a heart attack in his home in Joliet.

We love and miss you, Bob! 

As the new year began, it brought us a wonderful lady from California, Elise…and Skyler, Nancy’s dog!

Everyone enjoys Skyler, especially Elise!

Planned our Easter-Spring Crafts for our Open House and Craft Sale…

As fall approached, the “Golden Girls” were formed, and we were on our way to making crafts for our charity – Be the Match Foundation

My vision of an extended family has come true. We are always looking to increase our senior services and add new members to our social club, but we have a great group of guys and gals. The dynamics of helping elders, and those not so elderly, has been a rich and humbling experience. 

After June 2009, our summer became busier:

• We welcomed, Bob T., an ex-music teacher.
• We fell in love with Bob’s sweet and dignified demeanor.
• We also welcomed 2 more great guys: Don. V. and Don C.
• Bob B. and Charley rounded out our male visitors, and our activities became even more fun-filled!
• We also enjoyed the rest of the summer with Joan, Betty, Patricia, Lily, and Rose.

 What a beautiful summer on my deck surrounded by flowers and new friendships! 

We even managed to get some golf in before the weather changed…
